Nanny and Au Pair Training
Training-only for already-
employed Nannies and Au Pairs. A comprehensive course designed to engage the candidate
in learning all the basics in Child Minding (such as Bottles, sleep, nappies, bathing,
dressing etc…), Medical Basics (administering medicine, CPR, Choking, First Aid
for cuts, burns, concussion, broken bones, whiplash, shock, electrocution, drowning
etc…) Common childhood ailments (such as Chicken Pox, Mumps, Measles, Tonsillitis
and how a nanny should care for a child with these ailments) as well as extra emphasis
on the Development of the Child. The course includes not only the Infancy, but also
the Toddler Years. Most courses concentrate on Baby Care, but what about after that?
Nannies and Au Pairs need to understand how to develop, and stimulate babies and
toddlers, including discipline without smacking and shouting, over and above the
ordinary duties of looking after the child. Also, being parents to twins, we have
made sure that our course also places emphasis on caring for twins and multiples.
So if you want to send your Nanny or Au Pair for this course, please contact us
for dates and times of our courses. The cost of the course is R1000-00, payable
upon enrolment.

Help At
home Trained Nanny Placement
This service allows you
to hire one of Help At Home’s trained Nannies. All nannies are pre-interviewed,
reference-checked where possible and fully trained before commencing duties with
you. You can choose either that the Nanny lives-in or lives-out. During the interview
process, we make sure that the nannies are completely literate, able to communicate
well, participative and eager. If the nanny is accepted by the agency, she is then
trained on our Nanny Training Course (please read above), and only the top achieving
candidates will be placed as nannies. Salaries for these ladies are from R1500pm
for live-in ladies and travel allowances/subsidies will be required for live-out
ladies, making their salaries from R2000pm. The once-off cost of this service, for
a fully trained nanny is R1750-00.

Au Pair Placement
An Au pair is normally a
young, well educated young lady, such as University Student, or High School Graduate,
that is using Child Minding as a stepping stone financially, or as a basis for gaining
experience in Child Care while completing Formal Child Care training. These ladies
usually place special emphasis on the Mental development of the child, as well as
driving the child to extra-murals etc… An Au Pair will often live in the house with
the children (though some may stay out), and oversee all daily activities, meals
and needs of the children. Au Pairs are particularly well suited to caring for older
children. All Au Pairs placed by Help At Home are welcome to undergo our Nanny Training
Course (at no extra charge), so that we know that they are equipped with a solid
start in Child Care. Au Pair salaries start at R5000pm. The once-off placement fee
for a full time Au Pair is R2500-00. Part -time Au Pairs are also available, usually
at between R40-R50 per hour. Help At Home will then charge a 20% surcharge on the
Au Pair rate (for example, If the Au Pair is paid R40 per hour, then Help At Home
will also be paid R8 per hour, so the total cost to the client will be R48 per hour).
The client can also rather choose to pay the once-off placement fee of R2500, which
often works out as more cost-effective to the client - especially if you are planning
to use the services of the Au Pair often, or over a long period of time.

Domestic Worker
Thoroughly pre-interviewed,
referenced stay-in or out Domestic Workers, where we aim to make sure
that the candidate is thorough, competent, knowledgable and more than capable of
doing all necessary duties that their field of work requires. Please note that these
candidates are not experienced or trained in Childcare. Salaries are based
upon experience. The once-off placement fee for this service is R1750-00 for a full-time
Domestic Worker and R875-00 for a part-time Domestic Worker

Temporary Placement
We are able to provide temp workers (Nannies, Au Pairs, and
Domestics), but generally need two days notice.
Rates are dependent on candidate,
travel costs, and whether or not after-hours or weekend work will be involved. Please
contact us for a service quote.
We will
be able to provide all our clients with the necessary forms and documentation (contracts,
UIF etc…) that you will need to comply with South African Labour Law. It will be
the responsibility of you, the employer to make sure that you conform to all aspects
of the law once the candidate is employed by you.
PLEASE NOTE THAT HELP
AT HOME SELECTS ONLY THE TOP ACHIEVERS, WHO COMPLETE OUR OWN COURSE TO PLACE WITH
OUR CLIENTS. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS OF COPYCAT AGENCIES OFFERING LADIES WITH CERTIFICATES
FROM OUR INSTITUTION, AS THESE LADIES ARE IN EFFECT, OFTEN THE LADIES THAT WE HAVE
CHOSEN NOT TO PLACE.
Help At Home does not, and
will not willingly place an illegal immigrant. Although every effort is made to
ensure the validity and legitimacy of all documents and references that our candidates
provide us with (we do our utmost to verify all documents with Home Affairs or Referees),
we cannot be held liable in the very unlikely event that both us and our clients
are duped by a candidate. We do make every effort to verify that documents are genuine,
but, as Home Affairs can concur, over and above what we currently do (scrutinize
documents and check with Home Affairs or Immigration for validity), our only other
option is to fingerprint every candidate and have this verified. This is impractical
and impossible to do.
